Grow the Kingdom

At the start of 2024, Pastors Spencer and Allen preach a series of sermons called “Grow the Kingdom.” The Kingdom of God was the main topic of Jesus’ teaching. God’s Kingdom means the rule of God. The Kingdom of God is the restoration of God’s rule over all things. These sermons will invite our members and friends to doing some much bigger than ourselves—Grow the Kingdom!

Memory Verse: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.” (Matthew 13: 44)

Grow the Kingdom Commitment Sunday

“I Will Give… From the Heart!”

Rev. Wes Allen Preaching
WAY #16 – Give Cheerfully
Our Focus: Great giving begins with great sacrifice of all that we are and all that we have. Giving becomes a way of life in the Kingdom, and our King, Jesus, never fails to out-give.

“I Will Serve”

Scripture is John 13: 1 – 17
Rev. Stuart Spencer Preaching
WAY #15 – Welcome Change
Our Focus: Service is the name of the game in the Kingdom of God. Jesus sets the tone and gives the grace. He came not to be served but to serve.

“I Will Invite”

Scripture is John 1: 35-51
Rev. Stuart Spencer Preaching
WAY #14 – Grow Faith
Our Focus: Discipleship began with some followers of John asked if they could “hang out” with Jesus. After about 15 hours with Him, they invited others.

“Our Prayer Excuses”

Scripture is Luke 11: 1-13
Rev. Wes Allen Preaching
WAY #13 – Open Doors for Others to Lead
Our Focus: His disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. He gave them what we pray as the Lord’s Prayer or the Disciples’ Prayer. The prayer discloses the priorities of Jesus. Firstly, that God’s name be hallowed; secondly, that God’s kingdom come soon; and thirdly, that God’s will, not ours, be done.

“Take a Number”

Rev. Stuart Spencer Preaching
WAY #12 – Own Our Church
Our Focus: Luke describes what Kingdom people look like and how they act. They put others before themselves. They accept the Kingdom calculus that the first are last and the last are first. God’s Kingdom is upside down from the American way of life.

“The Kingdom Has Arrived”

Scripture is Mark 1: 14-20
Rev. Stuart Spencer Preaching
WAY #11 – Make Others at Home Here
Our Focus: Mark, the oldest of the four Gospels, opens with Jesus’ announcement that the Kingdom of God has arrived. In response, we are called to repent, believe and follow. As we obediently follow Him as disciples, we grow the Kingdom of God.
