Heather Lockart

Leading our Chapel Choir this season

Heather Lockart is in her 20th year of teaching at Cherry Hill East High School, where she conducts several choirs including Vocal Workshop (freshman choir), Concert Choir (select mixed choir), Chansons (select women’s choir), and Stay Tuned (a mixed competitive a cappella ensemble). Ms. Lockart studied voice and music education at The College of New Jersey, serving as a soloist and student conductor of the Women’s Choir and Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Michael Mendoza. Ms. Lockart has served as the conductor for the 2010-2011 All South Jersey Junior High Honor Choir, and assistant director to the 2024 All South Jersey Senior High Honor Choir. Ms. Lockart is active with NJMEA as well as ACDA, and has served as Women’s Choir R&S chair and A Cappella R&S chair for NJACDA. She was a coordinator at the 2010 ACDA Eastern Division Conference in Philadelphia, and a coordinator and presenter at the 2018 Eastern Division conference in Pittsburgh. Heather frequently leads workshops for a cappella groups in the tri-state area, and leads conference sessions on how to build, grow, and maintain high school a cappella ensembles. Since the inception of her competitive a cappella group in 2012, Stay Tuned has placed 3rd in the country for High School a cappella. Ms. Lockart’s ensembles have performed at The White House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, and Lincoln Financial field for the Eagles.

Ms. Lockart grew up in Clinton, NJ, singing in church and community choirs directed by her mother (interim Adult and Chorister director), and sang in a variety of ensembles in High School where her father was her director. Ms. Lockart currently lives in Mount Laurel, NJ with her husband, Band Director at West-Windsor Plainsboro HS South, and two daughters, Hailey (Chapel Choir member), and Mia (future choir member to be)!
