Director of Youth Ministries

Purpose of Position

 
Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of programs and events for families with an emphasis on Youth from 7th through 12th grade. Coordinate these programs and activities with those leading other Christian Education activities to insure spiritual formation for the whole family. Our goal is to create disciples of our children, youth, young adults and adults of every age. These disciples, in turn, will make disciples.
 

Accountability

 
Reports to the Head of Staff and consults with the Discipling Children and Youth Session Committee. The Director is expected to be familiar with the 25 Ways of FPC Moorestown and to support the Ways through living them and teaching them to those in her or his care.
 
 

Responsibilities

 
1. Plan, develop, implement, and oversee the following programs/activities for families and youth:
  • Plan, coordinate and lead weekly Youth Groups
  • Sunday School classes for Youth (middle/high school)
  • Helping youth participation in worship, including worship leadership
  • Help with Vacation Bible School
  • Summer activities in coordination with the Children’s Director
  • Participating and leading events for Church Has Left the Building and seeking to offer regular mission and service opportunities for our youth
  • Coordinate CREDO classes

2. Partner with parents in the fostering a growing faith environment in the church and the home through the following:
  • Weekly communications
  • Regular Individual Parent Meetings and being accessible to parents
  • Be a resource for family faith development

3. Recruit, train, and schedule Youth Advisors for youth ministry activities and programs.

4. Advocate for Youth within the church by participating in the life, ministry and mission of FPC Moorestown.

5. Create, plan, and maintain the budget for Youth Ministries.

6. Ensure that all Youth Ministry teachers, volunteers, and leaders are background checked and trained in our sexual misconduct policy.
 
7. Work equally with the Director of Children’s Ministries to ensure continuity of family faith formation.
 

Qualifications

 
  • 1-3 years’ experience in similar role preferred
  • Some formal Youth Ministry training preferred
  • A completed degree from an accredited college or university
 

Work Schedule

 
Full-time, including Sunday mornings, Sunday Nights, and Wednesday evenings, Tuesdays and other days/times, depending on programming.
