CREDO

But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.  John 20:31

What is CREDO?

Credo is First Presbyterian Church’s confirmation class for high school students interested in exploring what it means to be a follower of Christ, a member of FPC Moorestown, and the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Confirmation is an affirmation of the promise our church membership made to these young people when they were baptized (if your child was not baptized please mention to Rev. Allen so we can include this as well).

Registration is OPEN!

When is CREDO?

Credo meets on Sunday afternoons from 12:15 pm – 2:00 pm in the Hayes Room. We meet on the following Sundays:
  • November 6 and 20, 2022
  • January 22 and 29, 2023
  • February 5, 2023 (also Annual Meeting of the Congregation)
  • March 5, 12 and 19, 2023
  • April 16, 23, and 30, 2023
Lunch will be provided for the students each week. We will start with pizza and then determine what other items the students would like.

Credo students will meet with church Elders on Tuesday April 25th at 6:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Dinner will be provided. The dinner and meeting with Session will conclude by 7:00 pm.

Credo students will be celebrated in both worship services on Sunday May 14, 2023 (8:30 am and 11:00 am). Our welcoming ceremony will be held during one of these services and will be determined by the students at a later date.

What is a Mentor?

Mentors are adult leaders from FPC Moorestown who agree to walk alongside our young people as they learn and grow spiritually. Mentors should be active members of First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown and should not be the child’s parents. If your child needs assistance in securing a mentor please contact Rev. Wes Allen (wallen@fpcmoorestown.org).

CREDO Expectations

  • Students are expected to actively participate in class each week. Students are permitted three excused absences. If your child cannot attend please email wallen@fpcmoorestown.org.
  • Students are expected to meet with their mentor at least four between November 2022 and April 2023.
  • Students are expected to attend worship (in person or virtually) at least twice a month. Remember to check-in using the Church Center app.
  • Students are expected to submit a monthly reflection paper (at least four paragraphs) on the experience of worship (more details will be distributed at our first meeting).
  • Students will write a statement of faith, which they will be asked to read to our Session Elders on April 25, 2023 (sample statements of faith will be provided as a guide).

What is the Curriculum?

We will be using confirmation class materials published by the Presbyterian Church (USA) entitled: “Big God, Big Questions: Confirmation for a Growing Faith.”
For more information you can see a weekly breakdown of each session HERE.

What is the Cost?

To offset a small portion of the weekly meal expense, dinner with session and curriculum, we are asking families to pay $50.00. You can make payment online when registering.
